From Open Roads to Coastal Retreat: Rob and Jan's Thoughtfully Designed Haven

With caravanning in their blood, Rob and Jan were ready to trade the road for a more grounded, low-maintenance lifestyle—without losing the sense of freedom they'd always cherished. Their vision was clear: a hassle-free home that reflected their love of coastal living and thoughtful design.

Working closely with our designer Genevieve and architect Chris Pyemont, we helped bring their beachy modern dream to life. From the outset, every detail was considered, right down to ensuring a treasured chair and cabinet found their perfect place in the new space, and of course, a dedicated spot for their beloved dog, Wizzy.

Design Partnership and Vision

Rob and Jan's beachy modern design brief guided every decision in creating their coastal retreat. Genevieve worked with them to translate this vision into practical reality, while architect Chris Pyemont ensured structural integrity and seamless integration of their requirements.

Kitchen: Stone and Timber Excellence

Real stone benchtops anchor the kitchen, complemented by a timber-fluted centre island that provides both workspace and storage. The 450mm slimline Bosch dishwasher maintains full functionality without compromising space efficiency. Tiled splashbacks offer durability and visual interest.

Custom shelving with LED strip lighting creates ambient lighting and display space, while strategically placed Aluvents provide passive ventilation throughout the space.

Thoughtful Living Spaces

The master bedroom includes a small study area for functionality. His and her storage units in the wardrobe ensure organised living despite the compact footprint. The design carefully accommodated their treasured chair and cabinet while considering Wizzy's needs throughout.

Bathroom: Full-Width Luxury

The 1800mm-wide shower spans the full width of the bathroom, featuring a fixed glass pane that simplifies cleaning and creates a generous bathing experience. The custom laundry tower incorporates built-in powerpoints and storage solutions.

A wooden fluted vanity continues the coastal aesthetic, paired with a frontlit LED mirror. Greens brushed nickel tapware flows throughout, including matching vertical heated towel rails and cavity slider hardware.

Exterior Character

Redwood timber with Ironsand Colorsteel cladding creates the exterior palette. Boxy window flashings and oversized gutters add architectural presence, while integrated door flashing prepares for future shade structures.
